Escale and The Astronomer's Dream

Escale by Elea Gobbe-Mevellec is a well illustrated piece with nice music and good story telling which lasts over 5 minutes and 48 seconds, its a really good piece and if you can find it on the internet check it out.


The Astronomer's Dream by Malcolm Sutherland is a very interesting piece to how things turn out, so this piece is good to find out how things turn out so its defiantly a recommended piece just like the other 3 :D.

Bill Plympton

I saw his Hot Dog Short film at the flip festival and went to research him and found his site. He has done a a few more pieces on the THE DOG naming them Guide Dog-2006 and Horn Dog-2009 but which i found very interesting is that he did the music Video For Kanye West ft Adam Levine - Heard Em Say, that was a surprise to see but the animation is very obviously his looking at it now. So Well Done to Bill Plympton for doing that.

Flip Festival 6th November..

I only got to see half an hour of the 1st Open Shorts which had some very interesting piece which caught my attention due to the great story telling and interesting drawing style they had along with the well designed characters which is carried along with audio ( music or sound effects) the pieces are very inspirational to my work which i will do here on after because i have gained a lot though watching them.

A few animation pieces which stood out to me are: Hot Dog by Bill Plympton, Escale by Bang-Yao Liu and The Astronomer's Dream by Malcolm Sutherland. These 3 stood out the most to me for creativity and that it stayed in my head and that for me is a good animation and plus i enjoyed them.

There was a 4 way interview with people who was in the industry of animation, from teaching - gaming companies. the one guy was from Wolverhampton university and was the guy who asked the questions, the other 3 was talking about their backgrounds and showed pieces of their own work or work from students. it was really good to see because i got to see what was being produced out there, i have got a couple of their names but need to find out for definite what they are. Some of the student work which had been done was outstanding and aspires me to do well within my course.

I like this quote which the Wolverhampton University said "Animation Is Everywhere But No Where", i like it because its very true :D.

The Axis Animation company was good and not so good, the good was they was a very successful company doing very big things and would have been good to hear about, but this the bad bit they got carried away with other question which seemed pretty irrelevant in my eyes to what i thought it would have been. The stuff they showed was really good, i liked the Peugeot advert they had done, it was very creative and well designed piece. And that was good rap to the day :D.

I will post up the animation pieces which i liked later on...

My results for the last 6 weeks and the new project!!

Got 50% for the 6 weeks that i did which is alright but will be much improvements for my next piece which i am about to start. i need to manage my time better so i get all that i have planned done.

For my new project i have a audio clip which i have to animate my piece to, its pretty interesting project a lot of idea's have sprung to mind through hearing the audio clips. i will upload it so i can refer to it and hear it when i need to. i will use this also to design character designs through listening to the clip over and over, its kind of long but has to be done lol.

my 20'second final piece in its early stages....

this is my final piece for this module. its turned out alright but i did have some trouble with the camera when i had to capture this piece. i will want to re do this addding all my intend pieces into it. but look out for it :D.

2nd jump attempt!!

This is my 2nd jump attempt, taking a more challenging task to achieve, i like the out come even though it is a bit too fast in how it moves but can be easily modified through adding more frames in areas to slow bits down plus i should of added a few at the beginning so the viewer can get used to what is going on before hand. I would of liked to have added the background and some other things and will possibly do this for my 20 second piece so look out for it or independently as a test :D. but enjoy this for now.

Anticipation Jump

This is my week for small project, i have been set to do a jump for this one and so i have done some research on work which people have done already so i have been looking on the internet for this here are some examples.....

i then used this as i slight reference in my work you can see this in my 1st piece which is in reference to the 1st youtube video. For how long it took me to do its alright which allowed me to get the idea of getting the actions right for when i try my next piece.

Bouncing ball test 2

this is my 2nd test to my bouncing ball, ive tried a different approach to it improving on the bounce since the 1st. i will go over this in pen to fix the moveing platform and make the lines more clear on the ball.

this test is alright just trying to get the hang of weight and the movement of the ball dropping and this is my outcome.

Exaggeration project

i pleased with this piece being it is a first attempt but i hope to learn from this and my future piece look more consistent with the lines so it does increase/decrease in size or move out of place. but enjoy and give feedback thanks.

This animation piece i found on the net!!

I found this on youtube and thought i would share it because i feel its a really skilled piece and its of street fighter so its very iconic to alot people if not everyone. Give me couple years and i will be doing the same XD. lol



the sound was add by some other people but it adds to the piece nicely :D
